| The marching band uniforms made by Fruhauf Uniforms, Inc. stand among the designs nominated for a Tony Award from the 2000 production of The Music Man. William Ivey Long produced a series of watercolor sketches from which Fruhauf constructed the band and majorette costumes contributing to the play’s nomination for Best Costume Design at The American Theatre Wing’s 54th Annual Tony Awards. All told, Fruhauf made some 105 uniforms in three different styles in addition to drum major uniforms in two styles, all on a very tight production schedule. Said Martha Bromelmeir, Associate Designer for William Ivey Long, Inc. and associate designer for The Music Man, When I began work on The Music Man I needed and found the best band uniform manufacturer in the country. Fruhauf’s reputation precedes them. Their friendly service, attention to detail, fabulous quality and exquisite embroidery was exactly what was needed. OUTSTANDING. The uniforms are a splash of color and pageantry in the play’s finale, when a full band takes the stage 76 Trombones. Nomination for a number of Tony’s, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Actor and Actress in a Musical, The Music Man is in a long run at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre, supported by an even longer run of America’s best made uniforms. Founded in 1910, Fruhauf Uniforms remains family owned and operated, serving the music education industry worldwide under the guidance of a fourth generation of Fruhaufs. |
